What is a proxy server?
A proxy server is an intermediate server in computer networks that mediates between a user program and a target server. After the client connects to the proxy server, user requests are passed through the server, and the proxy connects to the appropriate web server to retrieve the requested documents, or contacts its cache for this.
Main examples of using a proxy server:
- Accelerate internet connection.
- Preservation of anonymity on the Internet.
- View sites with limited or blocked access.
